Abstract Renewable energy is an alternative to fossil fuels due the limited supply of and greenhouse gas emission contribution. Bioenergy one renewable energies that derived from biomass. Biomass waste, namely durian peel sewage sludge, has potential as raw material for bioenergy because its content. Moreover, carbonization biomass water can improve heating value material. This study aims investigate bio-briquette properties sludge with various compositions types binder materials. Tapioca starch, rejected papaya, cow manure were used binding The density 1.01 g/cm3 5288 kcal/gram calorific obtained 90% 10% tapioca starch binder. a moisture content 10%, volatile matter 21%, fixed carbon 61%, ash 18%. Although satisfy quality standard briquettes, content, matter, still did not comply standard. result shows papaya promising does compete food commodity flour.
